  • The ways. If - The Bliss Album…?

The Bliss Album…? (Vibrations of Love and Anger and the Ponderance of Life and Existence) is a 1993 album by P.M. Dawn.

The album was P.M. Dawn’s definitive work. A post-daisy-age album, the psychedelic sound that graced their previous work was to be felt and fused with early 90s hip hop samples. This set them apart from their peers and the album appealed to pop, alternative and hip hop fans. After the release of this album, their work was sometimes categorized as new age by music journalists.

The ways. - Rule of sum

In combinatorics, the rule of sum is a basic counting principle. Stated simply, it is the idea that if we have a ways of doing something and b ways of doing another thing and we can not do both at the same time, then there are a + b ways to choose one of the actions.

More formally, the rule of sum is a fact about set theory. It states that sum of the sizes of a finite collection of pairwise disjoint sets is the size of the union of these sets. That is, if <math>S_{1}, S_{2},…, S_{n}</math> are pairwise disjoint sets, then we have:

        <math>|S_{1}|+|S_{2}|+\cdots+|S_{n}| = |S_{1} \cup S_{2} \cup \cdots \cup S_{n}| </math>

Save Me is a song by rock band Remy Zero. Taken from their album The Golden Hum, it reached #27 on the United States Billboard Modern Rock Charts, and acts as the theme song for the television show Smallville.

The song has a soaring anthemic chorus making it a natural choice for the superhero themed show. Lyrics from the clip used as the theme: “Somebody save me/Let your warm hands break right through . . . c’mon I’ve been waiting for you” echo the issues presented in many Smallville episodes.

The song was featured as the opening song on the Smallville compilation CD: Smallville: The Talon Mix (2003). The Season 1 finale, titled “Tempest”, features Remy Zero appearing at a high school dance and performing “Save Me” and “Perfect Memory”.

            May stand - Schoonenberg Stadion

Schoonenberg Stadion is the home ground of the Dutch first-division football team Stormvogels Telstar. It is located in Velsen-Zuid, approximately 25 kilometers west of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It was built in 1936, with renovations in 1999, including the replacement of the east stand, which has been converted to an all-seater stand.

Today, the stadium is comprised of the east stand which holds 1200 people, and an emergency stand built on the north side. This is due to the fact that the original west stand has been deemed unsafe by the Velsen council, rendering it unusable. It is scheduled for renovation over the course of the 2007/08 football season. It will be converted to an all-seater stand holding 1450 people, with several built-in facilities, including improved sponsor seating and new changing rooms.

            • To: Save - The Rose (Dark Tower)

In the Dark Tower series of novels by Stephen King, the Rose takes on many different levels of symbolism.

The rose central to the series is a wild rose that grows in a vacant lot in Manhattan. This rose, although seeming like an ordinary rose that has grown, despite all odds, in the middle of downtown New York, is unique because it is actually the manifestation of the Dark Tower itself on our plane of existence. Further revelations in the plot of the later novels, particularly Wolves of the Calla and Song of Susannah, seem to indicate that this rose is not merely a representation of the Dark Tower (for such representations must exist on all planes and universes that the Dark Tower touches), but in fact actually a key, door or portal to the actual Dark Tower itself.

In the novels, the hero, Roland Deschain, and his ka-tet, must save the rose from the destructive machinations of the Sombra Corporation, which is by extent the influence of the Crimson King in our plane.

              Plot summary

Jake Chambers, one of the central characters of the Dark Tower series, discovers the rose while playing hookey from his school shortly before being drawn into Roland’s world. He discloses knowledge of the rose, and his belief that it may in fact be an incarnation of the Tower, to his ka-tet later in the novel The Waste Lands. Roland and the rest of the group later realize the importance of the rose, for if it is destroyed, the Dark Tower itself may be destroyed as well. They embark on a quest to save it as part of their greater quest to locate the Dark Tower and save it from the insidious plots of the Crimson King and his minions, who seek to destroy the Tower and rule over the chaos that will exist when it is gone.

In the novels, Roland and his ka-tet save the Rose by using Susannah’s inheritance from her alternate personality, Odetta Holmes, to found a new company known as the Tet Corporation which purchases the vacant lot and saves the rose from Sombra Corporation’s evil intents.

                Save - Autosave

Autosave is a function in many computer applications or programs which saves an opened document automatically, helping to reduce the risk or impact of data loss in case of a crash or freeze. Autosaving is typically done either in predetermined intervals or before a complex editing task is begun. It is never an alternative to regular saving, however, and autosave backups are often purged whenever the user finishes their work.

For example, in Microsoft Excel 2003, this option is called AutoRecover and, by default, saves the document every ten minutes in the temporary file directory.

It is also very prominent in video games. Many PC/Console video games feature an auto save feature that saves the progress that the player has completed during a particular session. For example, in an adventure game, it may auto save after completing a level or mission, or in a fighting games, it might save after winning a match.

FM radio station - Radio sweepers

Radio sweepers are used by radio stations as segues between songs that give listeners a brief station identifier or promo, generally 20 seconds or less: “You’re listening to the soft sounds of [NAME] radio. Easy listening throughout the Bay area.”

Dry radio sweepers are voice only — no music or sound effects.

Sweepers are also known as liners, bumpers, sweeps, station imaging, stingers, IDs, promos, shotguns, voiceovers, and intros.

                The term - Fundie

Fundie or fundy (plural fundies) is a pejorative slang term used to refer to Fundamentalist Christians. The term is intentionally derogatory, and is used most commonly by those opposed to the Religious Right movement. The term is often associated with religiously motivated conservative moral beliefs, especially those regarding social issues.

In etymological terms, fundie is an example of a mutated contraction resulting from relaxed pronunciation, where the original word (in this case Fundamentalist) is shortened and slightly altered. There is no recorded first use of the term, though its appearance in the American English vocabulary coincided with the rise of Christian politics in the 1970s.

The word can be used derogatorily to refer to anyone with a strong outspoken belief in any religion, any cause or any concept. This use is less common.

The term is used liberally in various publications and in common speech. Atheist publications and websites use the term frequently. While fundamentalists object to the term, it is not considered hate speech by the general public.

Viae There are two - Chill (role-playing game)

Chill is a role-playing game that captures the feel of 20th-century horror films. Players take on the role of Envoys, members of a secret organization known as S.A.V.E. that tracks down and eliminates evil in the world. The overall flavour of the game is reflected in movies such as John Carpenter’s Vampires, the Hammer Horror films and The Omen.

The game was originally produced by a company called Pacesetter Ltd. Once Pacesetter ceased operations, Chill was bought by Mayfair Games. At Mayfair, the game was published until the executives of the company decided to no longer publish RPGs and instead focus on board games.

The game was most recently purchased by OtherWorld Creations, although it has not yet been re-printed. A series of financial problems plaguing the young company forced it to announce, on August 30th, 2004, the cessation of all publishing efforts except for Chill, which, it says, will be released in 2008.

A variety of individual modules (adventure packs) were released by Chill’s first two publishers. One example is UnDead & Buried, published by Mayfair Games.

Chill and some modules were translated into Swedish and published under the name Chock between 1985 and 1987 by Target Games.

                S.A.V.E.

In Chill, S.A.V.E. (Societas Argenti Viae Eternitata, or, The Eternal Society of the Silver Way) is a secret society that is dedicated to protecting innocents from the creatures of the Unknown. Agents of SAVE are called Envoys. Though spread worldwide, SAVE can offer little support to its envoys, beyond pointing them at the Unknown and providing the occasional bit of additional research material. However, with the turn of the century this is beginning to change as SAVE has regrouped and reformed, ready to once again bring the fight to the Unknown.

SAVE is an acronym, the meaning of which differs according to what time period of SAVE you are examining. Originally, SAVE stood for the Societas Albae Viae Eternitata (The Eternal Society of the White Way). In the 1980’s, this was modified to the Societas Argenti Viae Eternitata (The Eternal Society of the Silver Way), ostensibly to avoid charges of racism.

SAVE began in 1844 with a single man: Professor Charles O’Boylan. Living in Dublin, Ireland, O’Boylan was fascinated with the possibilities of the brain. Not content to experiment with “occult mumbo jumbo,” he was convinced that there was a scientific explanation for psychic phenomenon, and he set his mind to finding it. What he found instead was something entirely different.

O’Boylan had experimented with his own seemingly supernatural powers of perception to a small degree, but he insisted on making his experiments “things of Pure Science,” and so, for almost a year, he carried out objective studies on psychic phenomenon.

No one is really sure of the outcome of these studies, because at the end of the year, O’Boylan destroyed all of his notes and abandoned his studies. “I have found a new and more worthy cause to champion,” he wrote in his new journal. “And my Enemy will regret showing His face to me.”

The “Enemy” O’Boylan wrote about was a seemingly intelligent and malevolent force he dubbed “the Unknown.” He wrote:

It is from this Source of Darkness that all Evil flows. It is not from Here, but from There, that dark place where mine eyes peered, my magical eyes that made me so proud… So vain.

O’Boylan recruited two other men – Henry Boulton and Richard Arthur (Lord Strange) – to create a secret society devoted to fighting this Enemy. O’Boylan dubbed the organization “SAVE,” or Societas Albae Viae Eternitata (the Eternal Society of the White Way). O’Boylan’s scientific knowledge coupled with Lord Strange’s understandings of the occult and Henry Boulton’s skills at gentlemanly combat formed a perfect circle to study and do battle with the Unknown. The year was 1844.
