WAYS may stand for: - Rule of sum

In combinatorics, the rule of sum is a basic counting principle. Stated simply, it is the idea that if we have a ways of doing something and b ways of doing another thing and we can not do both at the same time, then there are a + b ways to choose one of the actions.

More formally, the rule of sum is a fact about set theory. It states that sum of the sizes of a finite collection of pairwise disjoint sets is the size of the union of these sets. That is, if <math>S_{1}, S_{2},…, S_{n}</math> are pairwise disjoint sets, then we have:

    <math>|S_{1}|+|S_{2}|+\cdots+|S_{n}| = |S_{1} \cup S_{2} \cup \cdots \cup S_{n}| </math>

Series a - McCoy (TV series)

McCoy was the title of an American action-adventure television series that aired on NBC during the 1975-1976 season.

The series starred Tony Curtis as a con man who “out-cons” bad guys in order to steal back their ill-gotten gains and return the loot to its rightful owners. As such, the series bears resemblances to the then-recent film The Sting, as well as to the contemporary series Switch and the British literary character Simon Templar. Co-starring with Curtis was Roscoe Lee Browne.

The series was produced in the format of two-hour telefilms, that were broadcast as part of the NBC Sunday Mystery Movie as one of several rotating series that would air once a month. Other series involved in the scheme were Columbo, McCloud, and McMillan and Wife. However, McCoy failed to garner the same ratings as its fellow programs and was cancelled after four episodes were broadcast. At least one novel based upon the series was published in the United Kingdom.

Play by Edward - Marriage Play

Marriage Play is a drama for two actors by Edward Albee.

The play opens with a blow. Jack enters home and informs his wife, that after thirty years of being married to her he intends to leave. Gillian does not react as he would expect and therefore he enters three times more. Answers of Gillian make him angry. Finally he collapses on a chair. After expressing his frustration and insecurity, he finds out that Gillian keeps critical notes on their lovemaking and gets even more paralyzed.

Gillian and Jack, like George and Martha in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, play ritual games to express and contain their sense of life-disappointment. In the middle of the play, the couple even starts fighting with each other, clawing, punching and biting, even after they fall on the floor.

Exhausted by the fighting, they start to talk about the memorable times it their life. However, Gillian is determined to return the previous insults and tells Jack he is not the only one who was unfaithful to his partner.

Documents and - System for Electronic Document Analysis and Retrieval

The System for Electronic Document Analysis and Retrieval (SEDAR) is a mandatory document filing and retrieval system for Canadian public companies. Similar to EDGAR, SEDAR is operated by the Canadian Securities Administrators, a coordinating body comprising the 13 Canadian provincial and territorial securities commissions.

Through SEDAR registered filing agents, public companies file documents such as prospectuses, financial statements and material change reports with the regulatory authorities, and these documents are accessible by the public to further the goal of transparency and full disclosure. Documents filed with regulators prior to SEDAR’s implementation in 1997 are available from the individual provincial or territorial securities commissions.

The SEDAR database contains hundreds of thousands of submissions in Adobe Acrobat format by public companies, and searches of the database can be undertaken by company name, industry group, document type or date.

In the ways. - The Braxtons

The Braxtons were a ’90s R&B group, signed to Atlantic Records. The Braxtons originally started out in 1989. The first signed as a foursome to Arista Records which consisted of Toni Braxton and her 4 sisters, Tamar, Trina, Towanda and Traci. In 1990, they released their first single Good Life. It would be their only single as a fivesome. Good Life was not a hit and The Braxtons were dropped from Arista Records and even though It wasn’t a hit, Toni Braxton’s lead vocals caught the attention of Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds who were in the process of forming LaFace Records and Toni signed as a solo artist. The Braxtons broke up. In 1996, 3 out of the 4 Braxtons, Trina, Tamar and Townada reunited and released their album So Many Ways. The fourth remaining Braxton sister, Traci was not allowed to sign with the group due to her pregnancy at the time. The Braxtons officially disbanded for good after So Many Ways when Tamar Braxton went solo.

Trina appeared in the 2004 Tyler Perry play Meet the Browns as Tracy Stevens.

    Save baseball - Save percentage

Save percentage (often known by such symbols as SV%, SVP, PCT) is an ice hockey and lacrosse statistic that represents the percentage of shots on goal a goaltender stops. It is calculated by dividing the number of saves by the total number of shots on goal.

Although the statistic is called “save percentage“, it is given as a decimal. Thus, .933 means a goaltender saved 93.3 percent of all shots he (or she) faced. National Hockey League goaltenders typically have a save percentage above .900, and National Lacrosse League goaltenders typically have a save percentage above .750.

Save percentage applies in an analogous way to goalkeepers in football (soccer).

Save percentage applies to baseball pitchers, particularly closers. This is the quotient of the number of successful saves and the number of save opportunities.

    Three related - Guitar zither

The guitar zither is a musical instrument consisting of a soundbox, with two sets of unstopped strings. One set of strings is tuned to the diatonic scale and the other set is tuned to make the various chords in the key of the diatonic strings.

The guitar zither came into use in the 19th Century, and was widely mass-produced in the United States and in Germany.

A form of psaltery, the guitar zither is closely related to the Autoharp. It differs from the concert zither in not having a fret board.

The name guitar zither is apparently derived from its sound, as the concert zither is more closely related to the guitar, in performance method, and in physical form, than is the guitar zither.

A closely related instrument, the mandolin zither, has doubled strings, for a more mandolin-like sound.

Benin - Coat of arms of Benin

The Coat of Arms of Benin was readopted in 1990 after being replaced in 1975.

At the top of the emblem is the national crest that consists of two horns with corn in the ear and filled with sand. These are reputed to stand for prosperity. Below the crest is a shield that contains the actual coat of arms of Benin.

The shield is broken into four quadrants. The top left quadrant contains a castle in the style of the Somba, representative of the history of Benin. In the top right quadrant, is the Star of Benin, the highest award of the nation. Below this is a ship, that stands for the arrival of Europeans in Benin. In the lower left quadrant is a palm tree.

The shield is supported by a pair of leopards, the national animal of Benin. Below the shield is the motto of Benin (Fellowship, Justice, Work) in French.

    Game - Zero game

In combinatorial game theory, the zero game is the game where neither player has any legal options. Therefore, the first player automatically loses, and it is a second-player win. The combinatorial notation of the zero game is

    { | }.

Simple examples of zero games include Nim with no piles or a Hackenbush diagram with nothing drawn on it.

Other games can have values of zero, and in fact, all second-player win games have exactly that value, though they may not be the zero game.

For example, normal Nim with two identical piles (of any size) is not the zero game, but has value 0, since it is a second-player winning situation whatever the first player plays.
It is not a fuzzy game because first player has no winning option.

A zero game is the opposite of the star (game) {0|0}, which is a first-player win since either player must (if first to move in the game) move to a zero game, and therefore win.

The Zero Game is also the title of a novel by New York Times bestselling author Brad Meltzer.
